New Community Forum Online!

I had to update PHP, because support of old versions will cost extra from january onwards. I can’t afford that. Unfortunately the board I used is relying on an outdated PHP version.

I installed new forum software and I managed to import all threads, posts, including attachments and links from the old board. Registration / Member Database could not be imported. So you’ll have to register again if you want to post something. But I made registration as easy as possible.

Old postings have been imported as archive, meaning they are read only, but easily searchable, as the user names of the original posters have been included in the archive. I have posted some goodies to get the new Community Forum started – like the link to an interactive text adventure on AI Dungeon.

The new bosArt Community Forum is permanently accessible for all BASIC members (the lifetime membership), meaning there will not be any extra cost. No VIP-Lounge access neccessary to use the Forum.

  1. Now you have to pay money to sign up for the new forum?! I don’t want to do that. Now I really miss my A.I. Generation art posts. Well because of this, that ends my shoe loss posting term on here.

    1. One time payment of $ 9.90 for life time access is too much? Do you think the domain and web-hosting is for free? I did assume that all forum posters were BASIC members anyway, so there would be no extra cost for them. Obviously that assumption was wrong. Other regular posters who weren’t BASIC members just asked nicely if there was another way to gain access. You just ‘end it’. Fine. bosArt

        1. I intended to reply by email, but your email was not valid, so I have to clarify a few things publicly. But I don’t intend to discuss it. I will just lay out the facts:

          – The old as well as the new forum always were meant to be a service for paying customers.
          – I mistakenly assumed all forum-members were BASIC bosArt.EU members anyway, so putting the new forum under the aMember umbrella would cause no extra cost for them.
          – Another member of the old forum had the same issue like you – at that point he would have had to pay $ 150 for BASIC bosArt.EU membership to gain access to the new forum.
          – For cases like this I then added another option for those not interested in a BASIC bosArt.EU membership – life time access to the new community forum for $ 9.90 (average price of a cheese burger in New York, as I have been told).
          – I worked a full week to incorporate all previous content into the new community forum. Otherwise everything would have been forever lost.
          – Then you post that you ‘end it’ and ‘you are not willing to pay anything ever’, which I perceive as personal affront – you expect me to work for free?
          – Then you want me to sift through your postings and send you links to your content for free? I’m not doing that. Besides technically not possible anyway.
          – As it’s your stuff, upon request I would have to delete all of your postings, because that’s what I’m obliged to do by law. Even more unpaid work for me.
          – Assuming, that you’d still refuse to buy me a virtual cheeseburger for my efforts, I’d rather grant you access for free than put more work into that.
          – You should see the link to the community forum now when you log into aMember.
          – I will delete these postings, when I see you accessed the new community forum.
